9mm Shotshell Glock - It's that time of year. From doves, then Teal and ducks and geese, hunters all over the country go to the fields and fur some shots. A few weeks later, however, I had different goals in mind. Using a Glock 26 and some CCI 'BIG 4' cartridges, I set out to catch at least one Dove or Eurasian pigeon trying to fly into my mom and dad's little garden - in flight.
Now before you get all touchy-feely with me, Eurasian turtles and tortoises are wild animals. That means they can be hunted year-round as vermin (check your state and local laws). Not only are they foreign; If left untreated they can interfere with native songbird populations. English Sparrows and Starlings are also on the attack (kill list).

The Eurasian Banded Dove (Streptopelia decaocto), commonly known as the banded dove and sometimes called the banded dove, is a type of dove native to tropical and subtropical Asia, and was introduced to North America in the 1980s. In 1974, less than 50 Eurasian Collared Doves escaped captivity in Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas. From the Bahamas, the species spread to Florida, and now it is found in almost every state in the United States, as well as Mexico. In Arkansas (USA), the first species was recorded in 1989 and since then it has grown in numbers and is now among 42 of the 75 in the state. It spread from the southeast corner of the region in 1997 to the northwest corner for 5 years, covering a distance of about 500 km (310 mi) at an annual rate of 100 km (62 mi). This is more than twice the price. 45 km (28 mi) per year is seen in Europe.

Ammunition for rimfire or handguns is called snake shooting for a reason. They are usually about 10 feet apart. But these cartridges are usually loaded with #8 or #9. CCI designed a series of 4 shots to improve the distance and penetration problems associated with previous models.
I opened up two of the 4 large cartons to get 15 #4 shots of 50 grains. At the bottom of the shot is a cup-shaped plastic slide that attaches securely to the side of the case.
I loaded a few of the 4 large cartridges into a magazine, sat down and closed the sling. The first round ended in a draw.
I decided to get some basic test equipment for a few rounds of testing the model at different distances - pizza boxes. Unfortunately, the test images of the model are not useful, but the result is clear: anything more than 15 feet these small shots will not leave a mark. It's also worth noting that the cartridge won't transfer to our trusted G26 action. it is one shot.

As with all hunting trips, this test turned out to be a waiting game. Many times a mourning dove (non-combatant) would scream at me or a Eurasian would surround me by keeping a 30 yard zone. However, the birds knew I had done something.
To top it off, following a small object flying through the sky with a handgun is a no-brainer. It's even harder to find good exercise photos. You immediately feel that you are breaking one of the safety rules. Eventually you will get used to the fact that if and when you pull the trigger, the little #4 shot will hit the air after more than 20 yards.
About two hours later, a Eurasian flew about 20 feet away and I decided to take a shot. It was flying fast, straight over us. I tried to move a few feet away from his nose. Like you…
I want to come here and tell an interesting story about how I shot an intruder. It wasn't just that. So it's time to dig out the win, since I won't be shooting.
