Anyone who fell for a Photoshopped Glock 1911 or Glock carbine or rifle and was more concerned that they couldn't actually buy one than those who were forced to adjust their gun buying budget quickly to make room for the Glock Original AR. Last week, photos started flying around social media showing an FDE AR-pattern carbine that is combat accessible and has the Glock logo on the lower receiver. Of course, half of the Internet got excited by the pants, and the other half started chanting, "Fake! Fake!"

Today, The Gun Blog (TFB) reports that the photos are, in fact, of a Glock AR carbine and they have received confirmation of this directly from the Austrian gunmaker.

Glock AR rumors have been circulating for years, but it looks like the gun in the pictures, marked GR-115F, is the real deal.
The sources who first released the two images say the gun was linked to a British military requirement, which is unclear. TFB reports that it may be "related to the UK's current process of adopting a new AR-style rifle in newly promoted Ranger Regiments in place of the standard UK SA80/L85 bullpup rifle".
But why would any European government go for the Glock AR when there are already other companies like FN and SIG

In the spring of 2021, the last time everyone got excited about the possibility of a Glock AR, reports surfaced in a patent that Glock had included interesting pistol features unrelated to the Glock pistol, such as a medium length gas piston, and AR- esque schematics.. The patent was for a quick change barrel.
Design drawings show an ambidextrous, non-retractable charging handle located above the barrel, but as we can see from the leaked photos, this new Glock AR carbine appears to have a mil-spec charging handle on the rear of the receiver.
While the Glock AR may finally be a reality, don't expect it to be unveiled at SHOT Show 2023 in January or hit retailers anytime soon.
Glock confirmed to TFB that the cabinet was developed for a military call - perhaps more than one - and said: "Glock is always in the development of future products and technologies in search of perfection. The shared image is of a product designed for select applications, and is not available for general sale at this time."

If TFB is right and this carbine is intended for the UK Range Rifle, the selection will be announced next year - if Glock wins, then we will know more about this mystery carbine. If they don't, it may disappear from Glock stores forever, or we may see a local version soon after - only time will tell.
